	Personal Testimony of Jan van Rooyen
		Travelling at the Speed of Light! by Jan van Rooyen (Ex 8 Squadron - SAAF) ... I saw myself lying on a bed. Somehow, I knew that in a moment I would see myself fall off that bed into eternity ... Then it happened! I was aware of a rushing noise in my ears. My eyes were open but saw nothing. The skin on my body was being pricked my millions of pins and needles and I felt as if I was floating in ice cold water. A drum started beating inside my head ... Three seconds later I regained consciousness. The earth was spinning faster than a top - everything was a blur. Then I realized where I was - inside the cockpit of an Impala Mk II, my favourite aircraft. I also remembered that before everything happened, I was busy with some manoevres during which I blacked out (due to the very high gravitational forces) and it caused me to have hallucinations and extreme physical discomfort. I felt nauseous and my head was throbbing due to the lack of oxygen in my system. There was no doubt in my mind that I needed to return to base and call it a day. My mind ran through all the necessary instrument checks and cockpit drill before intercepting radial 270 and initiating the descent from flight level 250 towards home. Then I heard the Holy Spirit say ... "Where would you have gone, had you not recovered from that spiral dive? " My flesh answered. "I don't know! I know you have been speaking to me ever since I was a small boy but I'm feeling miserable now so let's just cool it for a while!" Today, I thank and praise God for His patient persistence whilst working in my heart and life. I am able to say so because satan and friends tried to lure me away by using the things of the world. At times I was overwhelmed by spiritual deception and confusion which was helped along by my unwillingness to change and obviously the lack of knowledge of the true meaning behind God's word - Love. The yearning in my heart for love and truth grew stronger and stronger and, because I didn't know any better, I thought that yoga, astrology, E.S.P., U.F.O's, strong drink and naturally rock music could fulfill that need in my life. Little did I realise that "God and Son" had it all sorted out and that my day of salvation and deliverance was getting closer. During 1977 I met a man at Flying Training School Dunnottar and he spoke to me about his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Through his continuous witnessing to me, the Lord really spoke to my heart and on the 29th July 1978 I rededicated my life to the Lord Jesus as Lord and Saviour of my life! (My earthly Dad had previously led me to the Lord when I was three years old). During the following months God started to remove bondages from my life. I realized that yoga, astrology, rock music, etc. was ungodly and as my knowledge of the Word grew, I started to renounce these works of satan in my life. In December 1978 I was baptized in water after coming to grips with God and myself on the topic of the "Sprinkling of Infants" doctrine. I also had to renew my mind concerning the infilling of the Holy Spirit and when I finally realized that it was for me, today, I was ready to receive. On the evening of the 31st May 1981 I was gloriously "endued with power from on high" (Luke 24:49) and I have been travelling at the speed of light ever since! A final thought I would like to stress is this; throughout my christian walk, during the good times as well as the times of trial and testings, I found that the basis for victory in every circumstance is unmoveable faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the power of the Holy, Spirit and continual meditation of God's Word. Had I not been born again by the Spirit of God, I would not have known this and I probably would be dead today ... Today, I am a Minister of the Gospel, and together with my wife Annika, we tell people about the Love of Jesus and how to live an overcoming life through the Power of the Holy Spirit.
